We are opening a bookstore called Empty Shelf, based on the concept of exploring creativity with an empty bookshelf. The store will feature books, art, crafts, and handmade items.

Local creators can participate by consigning their works and second-hand books, curating a shelf in their style, and promoting their brand.

Inspired by Japan's "shared bookstores," my idea came from participating in "Cats Book Shelf Tokyo" (@catsbookshelftokyo on Instagram) in Jimbocho, known as Tokyo’s center of used-book stores. Shared bookstores allow members to use shelf space to showcase their creations and mini bookshops.

Empty Shelf is designed as a creative hub where empty shelves await your unique vision and style.

Many people today are looking for places to express their creativity and experience the creativity of others. Empty Shelf is that place, starting empty and ready for your input.

Empty Shelf will be a physical space and hub for online bookstores, writers, zine makers, small publishers, handmade enthusiasts, art lovers, illustrators, poets, music aficionados, record collectors, musicians, conversationalists, stationery fans, jewelry makers, ceramic artists, film buffs, comic book fans, and more. If you love creativity and want to share your creations, this is the place for you.

Opened in August 2024 in the charming city of San Gabriel in Los Angeles County, known for its historic Mission, Empty Shelf is moving to a new location and will open in Old Town Pasadena in mid-November 2025!
